Construction is progressing on the Etobicoke General Hospital Phase 1 Patient Tower DBFM project in Etobicoke, Ont.

Fiera Axium Infrastructure Canada II LP and DIF Infra 3 Canada Ltd. are the developers in joint-venture and Walsh Canada is the design builder. The work includes a new four-storey wing with a larger emergency department, a new ICU/CCU department, larger patient rooms, a new maternal newborn unit with birthing suites, an ambulatory procedures unit featuring procedure and operating rooms, pre- and post-op preparation and recovery areas, a respiratory clinic, clinical services and support/administrative services. The new wing will be attached directly to the existing EGH patient tower and podium at multiple levels and has been designed to achieve LEED Silver. HDR Inc. is the lead designer and consultants are: MCW Consultants Ltd.; exp Services; Vantage; EPA; and Isherwood.
