Work is moving along at the site of the historic Loblaw Groceterias building at Lake Shore Boulevard West and Bathurst Street in Toronto, which is being transformed into the mixed-use development West Block by Choice Properties Real Estate Investment Trust, Wittington Properties Ltd. and Concord Adex.
The project, being constructed by EllisDon Corp., will house a Loblaws Great food store and will also have retail space, offices and two residential towers that will be 37 storeys and 41 storeys with a total of 876 units along with three levels of underground parking. The project is scheduled to be completed by early 2020. The project was designed by architectsAlliance and ERA Architects is the heritage architect. Historic Restoration Inc. is dismantling, cleaning and reconstructing the original stone and brick. Consultants are Read Jones Christoffersen (structural) and MCW Consultants Ltd. (geotechnical). Subcontractors include Premform Ltd.
