MARKHAM, ONT. — Marriott Hotels has announced the official opening of its Toronto Marriott Markham Hotel, the latest addition to the multi-billion-dollar Downtown Markham project from the Remington Group.
Marriott is billing the new 209-room facility as York Region’s first premium hotel. A June 12 media release noted the 192,000-square-foot hotel is owned by the Remington Group and managed by Marriott International.
Features and amenities include a curated art collection from the Bratty family’s archives, work surfaces with flexibility to permit clients to use technology in any space, walk-in showers, an infinity pool and spa-like lighting.
Dining and bar facilities include the Greatroom, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Draco Restaurant, Cacao 70 Eatery and the M Club Lounge. Business meetings will be accommodated in the hotel’s flexible Next Gen Meeting Space.
The hotel is located on Enterprise Boulevard at Birchmount Road in the 407/Warden Avenue region. Remington’s Downtown Markham development will include two million square feet of retail and dining, 10,000 luxury town manors and condos, 3.4-million square feet of commercial office space, 100,000-plus square feet of fitness facilities, a 2,400-seat Cineplex movie theatre and a large-scale sports and special events arena. York University has also announced plans for an eastern campus at the site.
“The new Toronto Marriott Markham has accomplished a forward-thinking guest experience coupled with esthetically pleasing spaces and we know their guests will be thrilled,” said Paul Cahill, area vice-president of Eastern Canada for Marriott International, in the release.
