MISSISSAUGA, ONT. – EllisDon Healthcare Infrastructure recently announced it has reached financial close on the new West Park Healthcare Centre in Toronto.
The firm was awarded a fixed-price contract to design, build, finance and maintain the redevelopment project following a request for qualifications process, a release said.
The development project will include a new 730,000-square-foot hospital building, with outpatient care space significantly increased to accommodate new services such as geriatric clinics and a day hospital, and satellite hemodialysis. Eighty per cent of the beds will be in single-patient rooms.
West Park provides rehabilitation, continuing care, long-term care and community health services for patients with such challenges as lung disease, diabetes, stroke, amputation and musculoskeletal issues arising from a life-changing event or illness, the statement said.
The project will target LEED Silver certification.
Construction is set to begin immediately and substantial completion is slated for early 2023.
“As the first hospital in Ontario to include community benefits, West Park Healthcare Centre is a very exciting undertaking for EllisDon,” said Joey Comeau, SVP Capital for EllisDon, in the statement.
The hospital is actually located in Toronto, not Mississauga.
