Mobile brewery coming to shipping container market

TORONTO — Stackt, a cultural marketplace built using shipping containers at the corner of Front and Bathurst streets in Toronto, is partnering with Belgian Moon to open a first-of-its-kind mobile brewery onsite.

In addition to retail offerings and art and cultural experiences, stackt will offer a food and beverage program, led by the brewery and featuring experiences such as a rotating chefs’ platform, where both chefs and patrons will have the opportunity to experiment with food, indicates a release issued by stackt.

Both are expected to open in early spring.

“The vision for stackt developed while I was living in the area and noticed the lack of an interactive public space which encourages community connection and engagement,” said Matt Rubinoff, founder of stackt, in a statement.

“With stackt we are developing a community and cultural hub which will provide the necessary space for Torontonians to gather, connect and discover.”

The Belgian Moon Brewery is equipped with brewing technology that will allow the team to brew fresh and directly onsite.

“We’re eagerly awaiting the moment we can host the Toronto community for a freshly brewed pint from this first-of-its-kind shipping container brewery,” said Bill York, commercial director, Belgian Moon (Six Pints Specialty Brewing), in a statement.

According to media reports, stackt will feature 130 containers used as pop-up retail space. The marketplace will be temporary as a park is slated for the lands in the coming years.
