Construction is moving along on the Blue Diamond at Imperial Plaza Condominiums being built on the site of the Deer Park United Church on St. Clair Avenue West in Toronto. Owner Diamond Corp. along with Camrost-Felcorp and Toddglen Construction Ltd. are constructing the 27-storey tower with 226 units, townhouses, a restaurant and retail space with three levels of underground parking. The church required partial demolition and the front facing portion and its two walls extending southward are being preserved and incorporated into the new development by being transformed into an open courtyard with park benches, landscaping and public art. The amenities will include a library lounge, multi-purpose billiards and games room, indoor pool and whirlpool spa, a modern fitness auditorium with two squash courts and a yoga/pilates studio, a golf simulator room, theatre rooms and guest suites. The project was designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects and the heritage architect is ERA Architects. Consultants are Jablonsky, Ast & Partners (structural), United Engineering Ltd. (mechanical/electrical) and Janet Rosenberg & Studio Inc. (landscape). Subtrades include Teperman (demolition), Michael Bros. Excavating and Forma-Con Construction.
