Toronto’s Thompson to be renovated, rebranded

NEW YORK — The Starwood Capital Group has announced that it plans to extensively renovate the existing Thompson Toronto hotel on Wellington Street West in Toronto and rebrand it as 1 Hotel Toronto.

An Aug. 14 release said the revamp will incorporate reuse of existing structural and reclaimed materials gathered from the local community, including timber, driftwood and local limestone.

The hotel will remain open and operating as the Thompson until the renovation begins.
