OSHAWA, ONT. — Construction is underway on a new townhouse project by Habitat for Humanity GTA that will bring 50 affordable housing units to the City of Oshawa, Ont.
The project is located at 485 Normandy St. (near Dean Avenue). Families are currently being matched for phase one of the three-bedroom stacked townhouse units expected to be completed in 2022, indicates a release, adding it’s being built on former City-owned land that was sold to Habitat for Humanity Durham (which has since merged with Habitat for Humanity GTA) for the construction of new affordable housing.
“This 50-unit project on Normandy Street is very welcome and an inspiring project and Habitat for Humanity’s biggest affordable housing project in Durham Region to date,” said City of Oshawa Councillor Rosemary McConkey, vice-chair of the Development Services Committee, in a statement.
