TORONTO—A contract to design the Fighter Squadron Facility (FSF) at 3 Wing Bagotville in Quebec has been awarded to EllisDon in partnership with EBC, Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes and Stantec.
Located in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, 3 Wing is one of two major bases of operations for Canada’s future fighter aircraft. Construction is expected to begin in 2022.
The facility will cover over 30,000 square metres and provide space for daily operations, aircraft maintenance, administration, mission planning and simulator training. It will also include operational headquarters for personnel, security, training and information technology as well as support spaces that will ensure long-term maintenance and operational capabilities.
The new facilities are being designed and constructed to be net-zero carbon and to meet LEED Silver standards.
This contract, under a consortium between EllisDon and EBC Inc., will be carried out in modified design-build mode, which combines the advantages of design-build while allowing a more iterative process between the design-builder and the client.
