GATINEAU, QUE.—Dream Unlimited has announced the first rental building in its Zibi community in Gatineau, Que. will be ready for residents in December.
The 15-storey Aalto is located at 10 Jos Montferrand in downtown Gatineau and will feature 162 carbon-neutral units, many of which are universal, accessible, adaptable and affordable, stated a recent release.
Amenities in Aalto include a fitness centre, theatre room, party room, shared terrace, games room, co-working lounge and bike parking. The 34-acre Zibi community will feature eight acres of parks and plazas, dozens of shops and restaurants, event spaces and a hotel, office buildings and residences.
The community, located on the Ottawa River, was designed by Dream Unlimited, Dream Impact Trust and Theia Partners. Zibi’s district energy system, located at the Aalto, will heat and cool all four million square feet of the waterfront city’s residential and commercial buildings.
“As the showcase building for the district energy system, renters can move in guilt-free knowing their unit is heated and cooled using the cold water from the Ottawa River and effluents from the neighbouring Kruger plant,” said Justin Robitaille, vice-president of development with Dream Unlimited. “And with breathtaking views of the Chaudiere Falls, Parliament Hill and many other Ottawa landmarks, Aalto is a very attractive option for eco-minded renters.”
