The Daniels Corporation’s newest master-planned community, Mount Pleasant Village (MPV) in Brampton, Ont., was designed with connectivity to transit and the surrounding community in mind.
Located just east of Creditview Road on Bovaird Drive, adjacent to Mount Pleasant GO Station, the development is one of the city’s first new purpose-built rentals in 15 years.
“In partnership with Choice Properties, this community will include both rental and for sale opportunities,” said Adam Molson, vice-president, rental communities and sustainability at Daniels, in an email to the Daily Commercial News.
“The first to launch is the six-storey mid-rise condominium (142 suites) and two blocks of stacked townhomes that provide studio to two-bedroom layouts paired with outdoor play and seating areas designed for residents to come together.”
Construction commenced in August 2020 and is well underway. Occupancy for the mid-rise and townhomes is anticipated for mid-2023. The project team includes Core Architects, Johnson Chou (rental building), Nak Design and The Daniels in-house design and construction teams.
The community boasts “urban village living” with access to 400 series highways nearby and Mount Pleasant Civic Square, the village, a school, education centre, library and community amenities all within walking distance.
“From the start, we envisioned this community as a transit-oriented urban village that prioritizes connectivity and convenience for every resident,” Molson said.
“There is still a belief that to experience true connectivity, you must be living in downtown Toronto. MPV proves that thought wrong with incredible transit options, shopping, dining, arts and culture and more — all just steps from your front door.”
Green features were also implemented into the development wherever possible.
“Everything from the thoughtful green spaces and pathways to the Mount Pleasant GO station to the use of geothermal technology in the rental residence,” said Molson.
“We are also offering our EV Charging Upgrade program, allowing homeowners to future-proof their parking unit to include electric vehicle charging capabilities.”
Like many developers, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have been experienced onsite.
“It has been nothing our team hasn’t been able to deal with,” said Molson.
“We continue to have strict COVID-19 safety measures in place for the protection of everyone. Over the last year, we have learned to adapt our business practices to ensure that things remain as smooth as possible while minimizing any delays.”
Daniels plans to expand in the area in the future.
“The Daniels MPV community will continue to expand with an additional 19 acres of residential development planned by Daniels coming soon and extensive mixed-use development planned for the broader Mount Pleasant Village neighbourhood,” said Molson.
