Concrete work progresses for the EQ Bank Tower at 25 Ontario St. in Toronto.

A joint venture between First Gulf Corporation and the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, the project includes partial demolition of an existing structure for a 24-storey office tower with five-levels of underground parking with terraces on the third and 22nd floors and retail/commercial space occupying part of the ground floor. An existing heritage building’s original west facade will act as the main pedestrian entrance and the project is designed to meet LEED Gold and Toronto Green Standard Tier 2 designations. The architect is Sweeny &Co Architects Inc. and the heritage architect is E.R.A. Architects. Consultants are: RJC Engineers (structural); The Mitchell Partnership (mechanical); Mulvey & Banani International Inc. (electrical); Ecovert (geotechnical); and NAK Design Strategies (landscape). Subtrades include Innocon Inc. (concrete).
