Rosati Construction to build new development for Islamic seniors in Windsor

WINDSOR, ONT. — The Windsor Islamic Association Foundation is breaking ground on a five-building, 30-unit residential development geared towards the Windsor Islamic senior community.

The official groundbreaking ceremony was slated to take place Oct. 5 for the new community which will be located at the corner of Dominion Boulevard and Northwood Street, on 1.3 acres, adjacent to the east of the Windsor Mosque.

Rosati Construction Inc., a family-owned business established in 1969, has been chosen as the contractor.

The development will consist of five, two-storey buildings, each with six individual apartments.

It will have a complementary design relationship between the new and the existing neighbourhood, indicates a release, adding the development will be landscaped with a common parkette the tenants can utilize.

The Windsor Islamic Association Foundation was established in 1956 with the Windsor Islamic Youth Association. By 1960, the name was updated to Windsor Islamic Association. It was a space for Muslims to pray, socialize and grow. In 1969 the group broke ground on 1320 Northwood Street, where they are still located today.
