TORONTO — Developers Ivanhoé Cambridge and Hines have announced that their Toronto project CIBC Square has earned a SmartScore Platinum rating.
CIBC Square is a mixed-use office building located at 81 Bay St. SmartScore is an international smart building certification program developed by WiredScore to recognize new technology in real estate, stated a release.
Features of the building that led to the designation include digital access and hosting capabilities, access to digital maps of the building’s amenity spaces via the in-building app, and modern cybersecurity policies.
CIBC Square has also earned a WELL Health-Safety rating.
“CIBC Square is proud to be one of the first Canadian properties recognized with the SmartScore designation, alongside the 25 properties globally, which further underscores our commitment to creating a forward-thinking and intentional smart building,” stated David Hoffman, general manager at CIBC Square, in a statement. “The SmartScore certification signifies CIBC Square’s commitment to its people-first approach.”
Another building in the Ivanhoé Cambridge and Hines joint portfolio, the Texas Tower in Houston, was also awarded SmartScore certification.
