Construction starts on Shalom Manor Hamilton

HAMILTON, ONT. — The Ontario government has announced construction is underway on Shalom Manor Hamilton, a new long-term care home in Hamilton, Ont.

The six-storey home will provide 188 new beds and is expected to welcome its first residents in spring 2026. The new building will feature an art studio, horticultural centre, exercise studio, gym, large resident common areas and air conditioning throughout the home, stated a release.

The design is centred around resident home areas, grouping 32 residents, with dining and activity areas, lounges and bedrooms.

Once complete, Shalom Manor Hamilton intends to offer specialized services such as behavioural support and be part of a campus of care. The development project for Shalom Manor Hamilton Campus is a not-for-profit home, which will be licensed to and operated by Shalom Manor Long Term Care Home.

The home has also proposed to offer culturally appropriate services to the Dutch Christian community.

The facility is one of 67 long-term care home projects fast-tracked this fall with support from the government’s increased construction funding subsidy.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating this milestone today, which brings years of planning to fruition, fulfilling the vision of our founders over 40 years ago to provide long-term care to residents in Hamilton and the surrounding area,” stated Shalom Manor board chair Margaret Louter.
