RFP issued for Ontario Science Centre relocation project

TORONTOThree teams have been shortlisted and asked to respond to a request for proposals (RFP) to design, build, finance and maintain the new Ontario Science Centre project.

Premier Doug Ford announced last year the planned move for the much-loved attraction, from its east Toronto location to a redeveloped Ontario Place on the city’s waterfront.

In June 2024, when the government announced the abrupt closure of the science centre over structural concerns with the roof, its press release said the Ontario Place facility would open “as early as” 2028.

Late last year, according to a report from Ontario’s auditor general Shelley Spence on the Ontario Place redevelopment, “the new building is expected to open in 2029.”

The following teams invited to bid were selected from the request for qualifications stage that was posted in May 2024 and closed in August 2024.
