XUZHOU, CHINA — Chinese crane manufacturer XCMG has announced the completion of what it says is the world’s first intelligent manufacturing (IM) production line for crane turntables and other products.
The daily production capacity on the new IM line will be 40 crane turntables, said a recent media statement.
XCMG is a 74-year-old multi-national heavy machinery manufacturing company that currently ranks eighth in the world’s construction machinery industry, the statement noted.
The firm’s new IM production line can produce over 20 types of products. At 100 metres long, the line has 168 anchor points on a flexible pallet that can lock workpieces accurately in place to complete the 18 assembly steps necessary to assemble a crane turntable.
An intelligent rail-guided vehicle carrying the pallet can automatically dock with a welding workstation to complete the production process with an accuracy of 0.01 degree, said the statement. Each technician on the line can manage 10 machines, with annual operation mileage of 1,933 kilometres.
“In order to lead in the era of IM, making strategic investments now is key. Any company that ignores this manufacturing revolution will not have a future,” said Wang Min, chairman and president of XCMG, in the statement.
XCMG exports to more than 177 countries and regions around the world, said the statement.
