Constructors believe 5G will benefit their businesses

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business today issued a report documenting that two in three businesses believe the advent of 5G will benefit their businesses. The report, prepared with Telus, found that 72 per cent of finance, real estate and leasing businesses felt 5G would be a benefit; 71 per cent of construction; 44 per cent of agriculture; and 66 per cent of rural businesses. The federal government will be auctioning off the 5G spectrum in June.

The federal and provincial governments yesterday announced $29 million in funding for 21 recreational and sports infrastructure projects in the Laurentian Region of Quebec. Among the largest projects, $12.7 million will be spent on the construction of a new arena in the City of Sainte-Therese, near Lionel-Groulx College, to replace one that was demolished in 2018.

Exro battery system attains milestone

Vancouver-based Exro Technologies today announced it has successfully completed its pilot Battery Control System (BCS) test in an operating second life energy storage environment. Exro is a clean technology company that has developed a new class of power electronics for electric motors and batteries. The BCS pilot was tested in a 25kW/150kWh energy storage system with aftermarket battery cells, multiple inverters and a grid level simulator. That type of storage system is often found powering a small commercial space like offices or storage facilities. Exro will now take steps to validate the BCS modular design in a grid connected system by the end of 2021.
