VANCOUVER — The federal government has announced it will be seeking applications from Indigenous organizations and other organizations to develop EV chargers beginning in the new year.
The plan will be funded by the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP), which received $400 million in funding in the 2022 federal budget, stated a release.
The funding supplements the $500 million allotted from the Canada Infrastructure Bank’s Charging and Hydrogen Refuelling Infrastructure Initiative announced under Canada’s 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan.
The federal government has already approved funding to install over 34,500 ZEV chargers through the ZEVIP. In total the government is aiming to have 84,500 chargers built.
