MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — EllisDon has announced the development of two new 40-foot hybrid timber panels that a social media post calls game-changers.
The panels were created using cross-laminated timber with post-tensioning, steel reinforcement and concrete, creating prefabricated floors that are thinner and more sustainable than traditional materials, says a Facebook post.
Credit for the new products was given to EllisDon’s Construction Sciences division, ED Modular and design partner DIALOG. The patented floor system opens up new possibilities for designing large span structures with mass timber, states the release.
