MONTREAL – EVLO Energy Storage Inc., a subsidiary of Hydro-Quebec, has announced the launch of a new five-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) that fits into a 20-foot enclosure as part of a project energy infrastructure system.
EVLO is an integrated BESS provider with a portfolio of products for the renewable energy sector. The new product, called EVLO Synergy, is being marketed as a competitive-cost product suitable for large-scale projects, with an efficient design that reduces land use, construction materials and project timelines, stated an Aug. 28 release.
The product is manufactured with high-density lithium-iron-phosphate technology and it utilizes
EVLOGIX Site Controller and Asset Manager, EVLO’s NERC CIP-ready energy management system. System specifications:
- Nominal energy capacity of five-megawatt-hours and a duration of two to four hours.
- Delivered fully tested and integrated, minimizing onsite work.
- Fire safety: meets NFPA 69 standard and is UL 9540 certified.
- Runs for up to 9,125 cycles over 25 years without the need for battery replacements.
“This launch is a significant expansion of our portfolio, emphasizing our commitment to advanced, safe and cost-effective energy solutions that support our customers’ requirements for clean energy projects,” stated Sonia St-Arnaud, president and CEO of EVLO. “As with all of our solutions, EVLO Synergy is supported by EVLO’s best-in-class customer experience, which ensures a collaborative partnership throughout a project’s entire lifecycle.”
Globally, energy storage capacity is projected to exceed 1 terawatt-hour by 2030.
EVLO will unveil EVLO Synergy at the renewable industry conference RE+ in Anaheim, Calif. in September, with a presentation Sept. 10 at 4 p.m.
