Big-D COO Thompson elected vice-chairman of AGC of Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH — Big-D Construction of Salt Lake City has announced that its COO Troy Thompson was elected as vice-chairman of the board for the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Utah.

Thompson will support board chairman Scott Okelberry. The elections took place at the AGC of Utah’s annual convention in January.

Big-D has been a member of the AGC of Utah since the early 1990s and Thompson has been active with the organization for more than 10 years, stated a release. Prior to his position as vice-chairman, Thompson served as chairman of the builders board and served a two-year term on the organization’s board of directors.

As vice-chairman of the board, Thompson’s duties will include serving on the AGC’s executive committee, representing AGC of Utah in regional and national meetings and events, and assisting in the development of the AGC’s annual operating budget and annual business plan.

“I am honoured to be elected to this position and look forward to supporting Scott Okelberry in his efforts,” Thompson said. “The experience and knowledge I gain in this role will help prepare me for my term as the organization’s board chairman next year, and it is my goal to help the AGC grow its membership. As we get people engaged and involved, we will see that everyone working together can make the biggest difference in this industry.”

Thompson began his career in the construction industry in Utah more than 40 years ago.

“My work at Big-D and my involvement with the AGC of Utah has afforded me the opportunity to work with the industry to educate kids on what a job would look like in this industry and get them on the right path for a successful career before they graduate high school,” he said.
