GEORGIA WORLD CONGRESS CENTER AUTHORITY - Skanska USA and Atlanta-based SG Contracting, Inc. are part of a joint venture building a 40-storey tower, the first newly constructed Signia by Hilton hotel in Atlanta, Ga.

ATLANTA, GA. – A joint venture between Skanska USA and Atlanta-based SG Contracting, Inc. has been selected to build the first newly constructed Signia by Hilton hotel in Atlanta, Ga.

Skanska and SG Contracting are providing preconstruction and construction management services for the $308.25 million project, which will be connected to and serve as the headquarters hotel for the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC).

“The Signia by Hilton will further elevate Atlanta’s international presence and position as a major host of civic, cultural and commercial events. As a catalyst for economic growth in the region, the hotel will generate an estimated 600 construction jobs, as well as employ many more once it opens,” Skanska USA executive vice-president Scott Cannon said in a statement.

The 40-storey, 1.2 million-square-foot hotel will be built to achieve LEED Gold certification and is located on the northwest corner of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority campus.

“Having called Atlanta ‘home’ for many years, we are inspired to work on the biggest hotel project to break ground in our city in decades. It will also spur revitalization of Atlanta’s Westside,” SG Contracting president Sachin Shailendra added.

The hotel will overlook Mercedes-Benz Stadium and connect to the GWCC via a walkway. Design is by Gensler. The project is set to open in early 2024.
