Johnson Carlier becomes Big-D Construction Southwest

PHOENIX, AZ — Johnson Carlier, an affiliate of Big-D Construction Corp. has changed its name to Big-D Construction Southwest.

Senior vice-president/managing director Carl McFarland, who will head the southwest regional office, has over 28 years of experience in construction as a market sector executive, general manager and director of operations among other leadership roles throughout his career.

Vice-president Laura Shivers will be co-leading with McFarland. She started with the team as the director of business strategy before being promoted to vice-president in the spring of 2022.

With an established presence in Arizona for over 100 years, the evolution from Johnson Carlier to Big-D Construction Southwest will allow the regional office to better serve its customers through market expansion and diversification by adopting the entire Big-D project and team resumes in key market sectors including industrial, multi-family, aviation, higher education and more, states a release. The change also opens the door for career growth and better recruitment.
