On this episode of The Construction Record podcast, digital media editor Warren Frey speaks with Engineering Services Canada CEO Ben Almond about building infrastructure in collaboration with Indigenous communities.
Almond spoke to the challenges of building infrastructure to reach and develop remote communities, including using locally sourced materials and knowledge combined with strong relationships with Indigenous communities and an emphasis on environmental stewardship.
Logistics can also include using the natural distribution and transport networks that have been established over time in and around those communities, and Almond also stressed the importance of proper infrastructure and access to basic resources such as clean water no matter where one is located.
