ACEC applauds recent report on Keystone XL pipeline

Journal Of Commerce

A recent report by the United States Department of State which found that the Keytsone XL pipeline would not have a significant impact on greenhouse gas emissions, has been applauded by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies (ACEC).

A recent report by the United States Department of State which found that the Keytsone XL pipeline would not have a significant impact on greenhouse gas emissions, has been applauded by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies (ACEC).

“This is a huge step in the right direction,” said ACEC president John Gamble. “For the second time the State Department has concluded – after an intensive period of study and consultation – that Keystone will not have an appreciable impact on GHG emissions in Canada or the U.S.

We need responsible resource extraction that balances economic growth with environmental protection and social responsibility. It is now clear that Keystone will achieve all of these objectives. We urge the United States government to approve Keystone XL without further delay in light of this report.”

Gamble also emphasized the importance of bringing Canada’s resources to market, especially into the U.S., which is the its biggest market.

The project is still waiting on approval by the U.S. government.
