Saskatchewan roofing company fined for not using safety equipment

PRINCE ALBERT, SASK. – A Prince Albert, Sask. roofing company has pleaded guilty to occupational health and safety violations for not ensuing workers used proper safety equipment.

Roger Lajeunesse, who operated as Windel’s Roofing, pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that workers wear approved industrial headwear as well as failing to ensure to workers use a fall protection system at a work area where they could fall three metres or more.

Lajeunesse was fined $1,000 along with a surcharge of $400 for each contravention on Aug, 16 in a Prince Albert Provincial Court, for a total of $2,800.

The charges were laid after a worksite inspection on May 2, 2016 where workers were observed not using fall protection or personal protective equipment.
