ECA hosting social procurement education series
The Edmonton Construction Association (ECA) is hosting a two-part education series on social procurement called “Buy Social.” Participants will gain knowledge of social procurement, explore best practice examples and case studies, and leave with tools for implementation, an ECA release stated. The series takes place Oct. 7 and those interested can register here.
Proscenium Architecture receives green building award
Proscenium Architecture + Interiors Inc. has received the 2021 Canadian Green Building Award for New Construction for the MEC Vancouver building from the Canada Green Building Council. The awards are presented at the Building Lasting Change conference which takes place from Oct. 26 to 28.
Self-generated solar power poised for takeoff: report
A new report by research firm BloombergNEF and Schneider Electric finds that customer-sited solar installations could see 167 million households and 23 million businesses worldwide hosting their own power generation infrastructure by 2050. The report, Realizing the Potential of Customer-Sited Solar, finds rapidly falling costs of solar technology have already made it economical for homes and businesses to generate their own power in some markets. The market has the potential to exceed 2,000 gigawatts of solar and 1,000 gigawatt-hours of energy storage by 2050, says the report.
