CALGARY, ALTA. – The Alberta Construction Association (ACA) announced March 7 the passing of former chair Dave Kinley. He died on Feb. 15.
Kinley was ACA chair in 2015 and served on the board for several years. He also served as a director with the Calgary Construction Association (CCA) and participated in CCA’s youth employment program.
Kinley was honoured in 2016 as CCA’s Man of the Year.
Kinley was born Feb. 26, 1960, and spent the first 10 years of his life in Calgary before moving to Indus, Alta. He attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and obtained his journeyman certification at age 21. He later established his own company called Concept Electric.
“Dave was deeply committed to his community, dedicating himself to various initiatives and earning recognition as Volunteer of the Year for Rocky View County,” an ACA release said. “Throughout the years, he wore many hats, coaching fastball, managing a slo-pitch team, playing hockey for the Indus Shot Hawks, and serving as a director and president of the Bow Valley Agricultural Society. Dave played a pivotal role in the construction of the Indus Recreation Centre, where he later volunteered as a minor hockey coach, guiding each of his three sons along the way.”
Kinley is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shelley (née Smart), their sons, Devin (Nicole), Mason (Lani), and Regan (Emily); and their grandchildren Rylan, Cohen, William, Henderson, and Jackson, an obituary on McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes site said.
