VICTORIA — British Columbia hit a record number of purpose-built rental home registrations in 2022, according to data released by BC Housing.
More than 14,500 rental homes were registered, the highest yearly total since data collection started in 2022.
For comparison, fewer than 2,000 rental units were registered in 2012.
A grand total of 51,407 new homes were registered in 2022 including 9,037 single detached homes and 42,370 multi-unit homes. These figures are slightly lower than 2021, the highest recorded year, states a release.
