Premier’s adviser chosen to lead Invest Alberta

CALGARY, ALTA. — Invest Alberta Corporation has announced that David Knight Legg will be its first CEO.

In the role, Legg will oversee an aggressive global campaign to try and attract high-value and high-impact investments to the province.

The corporation’s board decided on Legg after consulting with an independent executive search firm.

“We are fortunate to have someone of David Knight Legg’s calibre leading the Invest Alberta Corporation,” said Scott Hutcheson, Invest Alberta Corporation’s board chair, in a press release. “I am confident his successes working in some of the most competitive investment markets around the world, along with his bold ideas for Alberta’s future, will help turn our province into a destination for global capital and talent.”
Legg has spent the past two decades working in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia on foreign investment and international trade.

Before being hired as CEO, Legg was principal adviser to the province’s premier, where his focus was on capital markets, investment, tax, sector diversification, Indigenous equity participation and environmental, social and governance issues.
