Election 2021: Leaders’ tours
Today, day five of the federal election campaign, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is in Victoria, B.C. to make an announcement on seniors; Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole will be speaking in Nepean, Ont. before holding two telephone town hall events in Ottawa; and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh will make a health care announcement in Edmonton and visit local Edmonton businesses.
Equipment prices continue to climb
Ritchie Bros.’ August Market Trends Report released yesterday shows continuing price hikes across all its equipment indexes, with truck tractor prices up 31 per cent in the U.S. year over year and medium earthmoving and vocational trucks up 27 per cent and 26 per cent respectively year over year for the three months ending July 31, 2021. The report focused on skid steers and found that prices for medium earthmoving equipment such as skid steer loaders and multi terrain loaders are up 30 per cent in Canada and 27 per cent in the United States.
City of Calgary preserving Olympic Arch
The City of Calgary is taking measure to preserve the Eau Claire Olympic Arch and will feature prominently in a redesign of Eau Claire Plaza. The existing features of Eau Claire Plaza are being removed, including the Arch, so the ground level can be raised to a height that would protect against flooding. The Olympic Arch will be safely preserved, placed in storage until it’s reinstalled close to its original location. The City of Calgary will also restore and reintegrate the Eau Claire Lumber building into the in the new plaza design.
