REGINA – The Canadian and Saskatchewan governments are putting $130,000 towards two Habitat for Humanity homes in Regina.
Funding includes $65,000 for each home from the Saskatchewan Priorities component of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s (CMHC) Saskatchewan Bi-Lateral Agreement under the National Housing Strategy (NHS) and $15,000 from the City of Regina-provided to each home upon occupancy, a release said.
The single-family homes are each two storeys and reside on land donated through an anonymous donation. Residents are anticipated to move into the new homes in summer 2024, the release said.
In 2019, the Government of Canada and Saskatchewan entered into an agreement through the NHS. The CMHC-Saskatchewan Bilateral Agreement will invest $449.9 million over 10 years, which is cost-shared between the federal and provincial governments.
