Saskatchewan spending $50m on highways in spring season

Regina, Sask. – The province of Saskatchewan has announced more than $50 million in highway improvement and safety projects for the spring.

The projects in the 2019 spring tender schedule will be tendered in the next few weeks and are in addition to more than $250 million worth of construction announced in the Fall Tender Plan, released last September.
The schedule consists of 11 resurfacing, grading. Paving and spot improvements projects that cover more than 110 km. The projects will also repair or replace two bridges and install 21 culverts.
“The Government of Saskatchewan is focused on investing in our highways, with the release of $50 million in projects people can expect to see crews working on the road,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister Lori Carr said in a press release.  “Please slow down and remain patient when passing through construction zones so our crews can upgrade our roads safely.”

While tender advertisements are underway, the start dates for these projects depend on when the tender is awarded, contractor availability and weather.  All tenders can be found at www.sasktenders.ca
