VANCOUVER – A project to widen and upgrade Highway 13 in British Columbia near the Aldergrove-Lynden border crossing is complete.
There are now two northbound and three southbound travel lanes on Highway 13 near the Canada-U.S. border between 0 Avenue and 8 Avenue. A new northbound lane is for slower-moving commercial vehicles with a new southbound truck lane and additional future NEXUS lane adding capacity for increased U.S.-bound travel.
The project includes a new 3B Avenue east-west connection between Highway 13 and 264 Street with signals added to the existing 8th St. intersection and a traffic signal at Highway 13.
The $25.5 million Highway 13 Widening Project shared costs between the province of B.C. and the federal government. Aldergrove-Lynden is one of five Canada-U.S. border crossings in the Lower Mainland.
As part of measures to support the provincial health officer’s travel orders and reinforce the federal emergency order under the Quarantine Act, B.C. residents re-entering the country through a British Columbia border crossing are required to provide a self-isolation plan upon entry.
