Coast Guard opens new permanent station in Victoria
The Canadian Coast Guard has opened a new and permanent search and rescue station in Victoria. The new base has office and meeting space along with living quarters on the second floor for the station crew. Solar panels were installed on the facility’s roof to offset energy consumption. The new building replaces a temporary structure opened in 2018.
Vancouver launches ‘I Love Broadway’ campaign
The City of Vancouver is launching a campaign to maintain public awareness of open businesses along the Broadway corridor as construction takes place for the Broadway Line Skytrain project. City staff are providing campaign graphics to 1,400 Broadway businesses and three Business Improvement Associations. The campaign is based directly on feedback from businesses after construction of the Canada Line before the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Calgary names PCL as Green Line Utility Relocation construction manager
The City of Calgary has named PCL Construction Management as the construction manager for the Green Line Utility Relocation project. The city is prioritizing utilities located in parts of the downtown area and Beltline East. Preconstruction planning will begin this spring with construction starting in fall 2021.Third-party utilities include electricity, phone, cable and fibre optics along with other services.
