Ground broken on $19 million CentrePort distribution facility
Whiteland Developers has broken ground on a $19-million, 100,000-square-foot distribution facility at BrookPort Business Park located at CentrePort Canada in Winnipeg. The facility will house Nutrien, the Canadian fertilizer business.
Prince Albert company charged and fined for worker injury
Aallcann Wood Suppliers Inc. has pleaded guilty in Prince Albert Provincial Court to a violation of one count under the occupational health and safety legislation. The charge stemmed from a workplace incident that occurred on Dec. 19, 2018, in Prince Albert, Sask. While cleaning a conveyer, a worker was injured when they were caught in the chain drive. The company was fined $57,143 along with a surcharge of $22,857 for a total amount of $80,000.
LAX installs steel structure for automated people mover
Los Angeles International Airport has successfully installed a steel structure for its first automated people move pedestrian bridge, which will connect the Terminal 4.5 vertical core to the future West Central Terminal Area People Mover station. Once all of the structural steel is in place, a suspended scaffolding system will be installed to facilitate placement of the concrete floor and the installation of metal panels and glazing.
