Red Seal electrician leads spring break trade camps for women and Indigenous youth in Quesnel

Red Seal electrician leads spring break trade camps for women and Indigenous youth in Quesnel

QUESNEL, B.C. — Young people in Quesnel, B.C. are going to be receiving some early exposure to skilled trades work.

Lisa Scott, a Red Seal endorsed electrician, is leading two free spring break trades camps: Young Women in Trades and Indigenous Youth in Trades. Both are open to participants between 10 and 13 years of age.

Scott has worked in her trade for more than two decades.

“Last year, I went into the Construction Foundation of British Columbia office and saw all the amazing work they were doing with youth and I immediately wanted to bring that work back to Quesnel,” said Scott in a news release.

“It’s really great to see the pride the students show when building their projects.”

Scott developed the camps recognizing that young women and Indigenous communities don’t encounter opportunities to receive trades-related career exposure following successful trade camps in the summer of 2022.

Scott can be contacted at 250-991-2897 or at lisa@constructionfoundation.com for those interested in the camps.
