VANCOUVER — Twin Lions Contracting’s Spring Break Work Placement Program is now being used as a framework province-wide by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA-BC) for their Homebuilders Initiative.
According to a release, through school partnerships and hands-on learning opportunities, the Spring Break Work Placement Program provides students with a “day-in-the-life” experience on jobsites.
“Our goal is to ensure students have the information and experiences they need to make informed career decisions,” said Twin Lions’ president Kevin Hatch in a statement. “Many young people have misconceptions about working in the trades. This industry offers a stable, well-paying, and highly skilled career path right out of school, with lots of room for growth. Our Spring Break program is about opening doors and showing students the real opportunities available.”
The release adds, “By taking the program province-wide, the CHBA-BC and Twin Lions are making a direct investment in the future of Canada’s skilled trades workforce. With hands-on training and real-world exposure, young people will be better equipped to enter the workforce, reducing labour shortages and supporting the country’s growing housing needs.”
