Tom Sigurdson, executive director of the B.C. Building Trades addresses the crowd at the 35th anniversary of the Bentall IV tragedy in Vancouver, B.C. Gunther Couvreux, 49; Brian Stevenson, 21; Donald W. Davis, 34; and Yrjo Mitrunen plunged to their deaths from the 36th floor of the Bentall Tower IV, when a fly form used for pouring concrete broke away on Jan. 7, 1981.

Every year, representatives of the construction industry, labour, the public and the government pay tribute to those men in a ceremony held just across the street from the site of the tragedy. This year’s ceremony included a speech by the son of one of the workers, who spoke about his loss.
