WorkSafeBC holding public hearing on proposed regulatory amendments

VANCOUVER — WorkSafeBC announced it will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to British Columbia’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.

The hearing will cover proposed amendments to parts 6, 8, 16, 18 and 21 of the regulations and will be held virtually in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The hearing will be streamed live on Sept. 30, 2020, in two sessions. The first will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the second will be from 3 to 5 p.m. The hearing can be viewed live at those times at this link.

Part 6 of the regulation covers specific substance requirements for the handling of asbestos, lead, pesticides, biological agents and other harmful substances. Part 8 addresses personal protective clothing and equipment. Part 16 covers mobile equipment and vehicles and part 18 regulates traffic control. Part 21 of the regulation is for blasting operations.

Pre-recorded video submissions of up to five minutes in length can also be submitted and will be played at the public hearing.
