VICTORIA — Thanks to a $700,000 grant, B.C. employers will have increased access to training resources for creating healthy workplaces.
The grant will allow the B.C. division of the Canadian Mental Health Association to include interactive modules for employers.
The modules will help employers better understand the importance of psychological safety in the workplace, identify and remove barriers to employment and build skills that support the success of all employees, including those with mental illnesses and addictions, states a news release.
The training and coaching program will also be expanded to include guidance on psychological health and safety best practices such as adapting an employers’ existing policies to ensure they do not serve as barriers.
The hub was originally created for people working in tourism and hospitality but the program will be expanded to all sectors.
The grant comes from the 2022-23 Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Development Agreement.
