Calgary-based ENMAX is preparing to break ground on their newest energy facility, the Crossfield Energy Centre.
The project has been given the green light by provincial authorities and construction will begin in late August 2008.
The 120 MW natural gas-fired facility is designed to meet periods of peak electrical demand and is expected to operate about 15 to 45 percent of the time to help stabilize the provinces southern transmission grid.
The facility was designed by Denver-based URS Washington Group.
ENMAX is currently negotiating with a general contractor to build the facility. That announcement is expected in early August 2008.
The project’s construction budget is unavailable at this time.
