Smith Carter Architects and Engineers joins GENIVAR

Smith Carter Architects and Engineers has announced that it is joining forces with GENIVAR.

Smith Carter will lead an integrated architectural and building engineering practice.

"Our goal has always been to be one of the top tier firms in North America serving our local clients as well as national and international markets," said Smith Carter CEO Scott Stirton.

"By joining GENIVAR we will immediately gain scale, capacity and additional expertise. Current clients will enjoy a new depth of knowledge and capability while we can broaden our reach into new markets."

GENIVAR is one of Canada’s largest engineering and professional services firms.

GENIVAR’s Buildings Group is a partner to several well known Canadian architectural firms including PBK Architects, WHW Architects, ANO Architects, the ARCOP Group and AE Consulting located in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax and St. John’s.

Smith Carter is known for its work designing and engineering complex projects in the areas of science and technology, health care, security and defence, and urban impact.

Founded in 1947 in Winnipeg, it has grown to be known for working for a combination of government, institutional and private sector clients.

Some of its projects include the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Boston University, the Manitoba Hydro Building and the Centers for Disease Control.

With the addition of Smith Carter, the alliance will nearly double in size to 400 professionals with a strong U.S. presence in Atlanta and Washington, D.C.
