A self employed worker died last week after he fell at a residential construction site near Pigeon Lake, Alberta.
“It happened on Feb. 11 at 12:40 p.m. at a residential home construction site, where a worker fell three metres through a floor hole opening into the basement,” said Occupational Health and Safety spokesman Barrie Harrison. “The opening had been covered by a tarp to retain heat in the basement.”
The 63-year old male suffered a serious head injury and it is not known if he died at the site or in hospital. The site was in the Grandview subdivision. The company name isn’t being released because he was self employed and it would reveal his identity.
Harrison said a stop work order was issued until fall protection could be secured.
