The province stated in a press release that the Town of New Glasgow and Pictou County will also be working on the water, storm and sewer infrastructure to supply the site.

The construction of the correctional facility itself is expected to cost $34 million. Construction is expected to start in April, 2012 and to finish in late 2013 or early 2014.

“Architectural drawings will be completed in the next few weeks with the construction tender to follow in February,” the province stated. “Seven general contracting companies were pre-qualified to bid on the tender.”
