Oklahoma-based Devon Energy has gained approval from the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board and Alberta Environment and Water to move forward with Jackfish 3 just south of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Oklahoma-based Devon Energy has gained approval from the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board and Alberta Environment and Water to move forward with Jackfish 3 just south of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Jackfish 3, the third phase of the company’s oil sands project, will utilize Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage and is expected to produce 35,000 barrels of oil a day once activated. Devon will spend $1.3 billion on the project from construction to startup.
Construction of the project will begin next month with an estimated completion date and startup of the facility in late 2014.
