Chatham-Kent Wind Action’s appeal for the approval of the South Kent wind project was rejected by the Environmental Review Tribunal (ERT).
The ERT concluded that Chatham-Kent Wind Action failed to prove that the wind project, developed by Samsung Renewable Energy and Pattern Energy, would cause any significant damage to human health.
The appeal was launched following the approval of the 270 megawatt wind project that would be built in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
A presenter for the appeal argued that the Ministry of Environment’s guidelines made it difficult to predict the noise pollution that would be caused by the wind farm. The ERT found the argument to be insufficient.
Construction on the project is slated for 2013 and is expected to start running in the first quarter of 2014.
