Graham Construction has been inducted into the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce’s Business Hall of Fame. The company was inducted at the chambers’ ABEX awards, held Oct. 24 in Saskatoon, Sask.
Though Graham currently has a head office in Calgary, it began as a family business in the province.
"Since it started in Moose Jaw in 1926, Graham has worked in all areas of the province, working on projects from small construction ventures to major undertakings such as the Regina Bypass.
As a construction leader, and because it gives back to the province and its residents, the Saskatchewan Chamber felt it was a natural to be included in the Business Hall of Fame," chamber CEO McLellan said. The company’s first work was building railway stations in Saskatchewan, followed by government work during the Great Depression, including schools, hospitals and public buildings.
The company reached a milestone in the 1950s by constructing the Boundary Dam power generating station in Estevan for Saskatchewan Power. Graham currently provides services to the mining, power and energy sectors and has won awards for major projects such as the Regina Bypass project, the Saskatoon Children’s Hospital, Saskatchewan Hospital North Battleford and the North Commuter Parkway.
