PCL selected as Saskatoon Remand Centre construction manager
PCL Construction has been chosen to provide construction management services for the Saskatchewan Remand Centre expansion project. When complete, the new Remand Centre will add space for approximately 400 remanded inmates at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre. PCL will conduct the majority of work from their Saskatoon office. The project is scheduled for completion by spring 2024.
Federal and Alberta governments collaborate on affordable Indigenous housing
The governments of Canada and Alberta are providing $3 million each to fund affordable Indigenous housing in Edmonton, Alta. Tribal Chiefs Ventures Inc. will offer 32 units of affordable housing across four fourplexes, each with eight units. In Alberta, the funding is provided through the Indigenous Housing Capital Program (IHCP), which supports Indigenous governments and communities to build affordable off-reserve, off-settlement and on-settlement housing. IHCP applications are accepted on a continuous basis and are available at alberta.ca/ihcp. The next quarterly deadline is Sept. 30.
Anthem acquires Calgary business park
Anthem Properties Group Ltd. in partnership with Nicola Wealth Real Estate has acquired Eastfield Business Park, a two-building warehouse and distribution complex on 8.63 acres in Calgary, Alta. The complex is located in Calgary’s southeast industrial node and is comprised of approximately 200,000 sf of class-A warehouse space throughout two buildings of 100,000 sf each. The park is currently 100 per cent leased but 100,000 sf will become available in spring 2022. Â
